How do I contact St. Johns?

Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4pm
Phone: (847) 741-0184
Email: churchoffice@stjohnselgin.org

Give us a call or drop us an email any time. If it is after hours, we will respond as soon as we can.

What time are the services?

Divine Service is celebrated on Saturday night @ 5:30 PM and twice on Sunday morning at 8 and 10:30 AM with bible study and Sunday school at 9:15am Sunday. Holy Communion is celebrated the 1st, 3rd, and 5th weekend of each month as well as on Festival Dates of the Church  (e.g., Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, Epiphany)

What should I wear?

While many people would consider St. John’s to be a more traditional church, there is no dress code and all are welcome so just come as you are.  You will see people in suits and dresses sitting next to people in jeans and t-shirts.

Where should I park?

St. John’s is located in downtown Elgin just a few blocks east of the Fox River at 115 N Spring St., Elgin, IL 60120.  St. John’s owns its own parking deck directly across Spring street from the church and school buildings. Wheelchair accessible parking and entrance are located behind the church and can be accessed via the alley.

Do you offer a kids service or a nursery?

Worship is a family activity and children are encouraged to worship alongside the entire congregation.  This provides a true family environment where all are welcome.  We do offer a nursery area, with an audio feed of the service, if parents feel the need to leave the service with a fussy child.

Worship with Us

In-person or Online

Come worship with us!

We believe in a God that meets us right where we are, wherever that may be. We would love to have you and your family right there with us! Come as you are and find friendly and positive people excited to introduce you to our church family.

Our in-person worship services offer the traditional elements of worship — the Lord’s Supper, confession and absolution of our sins, readings from scripture, sermon, and prayer — complemented by traditional hymns.

IN-PERSON WORSHIP: happens Saturday evenings at 5:30, and Sunday mornings at 8:00 and 10:30.

ONLINE WORSHIP: Subscribe to our YouTube channel or follow us on Facebook to be notified when a recording of our weekend service becomes available or check out our previous services.

COVID UPDATE: During this pandemic, in-person worship is taking place. We are following all CDC and IDPH guidelines, including socially distanced seating and requiring everybody in attendance to wear a face covering.  Seating is also limited. However, with our large sanctuary and balcony area, we have not been required to turn anybody away or to utilize our overflow areas.  If you have any questions about the measures being taken, please contact the church office.
