St. John’s Lutheran Church and School is blessed with many music groups, giving members opportunities to use their musical talents to God’s glory.  It is our joy to praise God and proclaim His message of salvation through music.

Chancel Choir

The adult choir meets each Thursday from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the music room.  We sing approximately twice a month, including major festivals of the church year.  We are blessed to have a large repertoire of beautiful choral works that follow the church calendar.

Sounds of Praise

The adult handbell group rehearses on Thursdays from 5:45 – 6:50 pm in the church balcony.  Practices and performances are scattered throughout the church year, including Christmas and Easter. No experience is necessary but having some music background is helpful.

Instrumentalists

If you play an instrument and would like to share your talent with us, please speak with our Director of Music, Mr. Dale Woock.  You may also reach him at  847-741-0814 ext 117 or email him at mrwoock@stjohns-school-elgin.org

Youth Handbells

Consists of Middle School and High School students. Ringers work on note reading, bell techniques, and musicianship.  Their music is shared at worship services, concerts, and other opportunities that may happen throughout the year.
